Cenote Sambula o Motul

It is a closed-type cenote within a cave where to access the water, you descend by a masonry staircase to a spacious room lit by electricity. The water is crystal clear and the water mirror measures 30 meters long by 8 meters wide and has a minimum depth of 1 meter and a maximum of 8.

The site is managed by the H. City Council that takes care of and provides the maintenance of the facilities, charging a modest recovery fee. The grotto measures 8 meters wide by 40 long and 3 meters high on average. It is a good place to swim and to practice cave diving if you have the proper preparation since it has an underwater cave with considerable restrictions, where the sediment is very volatile.

The use of life jackets is recommended. avoid the use of sunscreen and insect repellants and do not leave garbage inside the site.

This cenote is located 45 kilometers east of the city of Mérida, taking the Mérida-Tizimín highway. When you reach the center of the city of Motul, travel 6 blocks south along the Cacalchén highway and you will arrive at 41 x 24 and 26 street where there is a tourist services area of ​​the H.
